Welcome to paradise! Vero Beach, Florida at a glance:
A charming barrier island seaside community, unpretentiously elegant Vero Beach is one of Florida's most idyllic locations. Known as The Hamptons of Florida for its laid back, small town environment amidst high caliber arts and culture, MONEY recently named Vero Beach the #2 market in the nation
to buy now, predicting 64% appreciation over the next five years. Why?
Market fundamentals that support the appreciation of property values now and in the future include: high degree of affordability compared to other FL and Eastern seaboard coastal communities; tough density, height and zoning laws that keep our hard-to-find barrier island remarkably uncrowded, relatively affordable and comprised mainly of single family homes; and population trends like continued
in-migration to Florida and Boomers turning 60 until 2015.
Vero Beach is divided by the Indian River with a barrier island east of the river referred to as beachside and land west of the river known as the mainland. Thanks to stringent building codes,
our 25 miles of uninterrupted white sandy beaches on the Atlantic Ocean are pristine and un-crowded and our land is graced by canopies of live oaks, palm trees and tall pine trees.
The Indian River is a briny estuary that offers wide vistas dotted by mangrove-filled s poil islands that serve as home to dolphin, manatees, blue crabs, heron and an abundance of other wildlife. The River is a glorious spot for birding, kayaking, fishing, sailing or boating, with deep water mooring available in many communities as well as at the city marina.
The beachside barrier island offers quaint restaurants, specialty shops and boutiques, the nationally recognized Vero Beach Museum of Art and Riverside Theater, golf, banking, professional services, doctors' offices, churches and gourmet markets without traveling over either of two fixed bridges to the mainland. The Indian River Memorial Hospital is just over the bridge. Vero Beach`s barrier island is largely single family homes, with condominiums of restricted height allowed only on a portion of the island.
Undergoing a dynamic revitalization, the mainland offers a downtown historic and antiques district filled with unique shops and restaurants. There are also shopping centers, movie theaters, restaurants across the mainland to meet your every need.
The barrier island's May through October population is comprised of 17,000 young families, empty nesters and retirees; November through April, snowbirds in search of respite from winter double this figure. Indian River County's population approximates 124,000. Vero Beach is part of the Treasure Coast -- named in honor a flotilla of Spanish ships in the 1700s whose demise along our coast dotted our coastline with $25 million dollars in treasure - with residents hailing from South Florida cities, NY, MI, CT, VA, MI, and MA among others.
A host of education options exist, from public schools that include elementary to high school charter schools to private, parochial, Christian schools and a community college. A virtual writers and artists colony and a highly literate community, literary, visual, theater and musical performance arts groups abound.
The stars of Vero Beach might well be citrus and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Home to groves that produce the world's finest citrus, Vero Beach is home the spring training for the Los Angeles Dodgers, whose stadiumwas rated most attractive in the minor league.
